Put your face close to the screen, then slowly back away to see a face hidden in the lines.

Can someone explain to me how does this happen?
It’s amazing!

This one’s interesting. The illusion isn’t in seeing the face. It’s always there. The white lines aren’t toally white, they contain a low-contrast grayscale image of the face.
The illusion is in *not* seeing the face up close. The black lines provide such a large contrast to the grays between them that they look white. Essentailly, the low-contrast gray is “drowned out” by the sharp black.
As you move away from the screen this effect diminishes… I’m not exactly sure why but I think it’s because your mind can no longer focus on individual lines and must process the picture as a whole.
